Tìm cách rời bỏ thời tiết nóng bức và ngột ngạt của Delhi, chúng tôi dành 2 ngày cuối tuần để tìm tới thành phố được mệnh danh là Thủ đô Mùa hè của Ấn Độ. Shimla City là thủ phủ của tỉnh Himachal Pradesh, nằm trên dãy núi Himalaya, mùa đông có tuyết phủ kín, mùa hè ban ngày mát mẻ, ban đêm se lạnh. Không khí ở Shimla trong lành, sạch sẽ tuyệt vời. Đường xá ở đây được xây dựng xung quanh các ngọn núi, không có đoạn đường nào thẳng và không dốc quá nổi 100m. Các ngôi nhà, khách sạn cũng được xây bám lấy các ngọn núi, ban đêm nhìn rất đẹp và thơ mộng. Nơi đây là điểm thu hút khách du lịch khắp nơi đến nghỉ mát vào mùa hè nóng nực của Ấn Độ. Thời điểm chúng tôi có mặt ở Shimla là đầu tháng 4, tại Delhi nhiệt độ là 34 độ còn ở Shimla là 18 độ.
Shimla cũng nổi tiếng với những ngồi trường chất lượng cao. Ngôi trường chúng tôi tham quan đứng thứ 4 tại Ấn Độ về chất lượng và thu hút học sinh từ rất nhiều nước tới học. Toàn bộ chương trình ở đây học bằng tiếng Anh và tiếng Pháp. Ngôi trường khang trang, đầy đủ tiện nghi và có những không gian cho thư giãn, thể thao.
Thời kỳ nước Anh đô hộ, xây dựng 1 biệt thự đẹp mê hồn trên đỉnh cao của Shimla, nay được tu tạo lại thành trung tâm đào tạo nâng cao các chuyên ngành và là nơi bảo vệ đề tài của các Tiến sỹ, Giáo sư. 1 thư viện với kho tàng sách quý, không gian vẫn lưu giữ những dấu son của lịch sử.

Bulging at its seams with unprecedented expansion, Shimla retains its colonial heritage, with grand old buildings, among them are the stately Viceregal Lodge, charming iron lamp posts and Anglo-Saxon names. The Mall, packed with shops and eateries, is the centre of attraction of the town, and Scandal Point, associated with the former Maharaja of Patiala's escapades, offers a view of distant snow clad peaks.
Shimla is ideally located, and though there is an air service to the town, it is best reached by road that takes in the charms of the HIMALAYAN countryside at its best. There is a sense of nostalgia about SHIMLA, with its old bungalows and their gabled roofs and beautiful gardens.
